Choosing a colour scheme for your home décor can be tricky. How do you pick a colour which is fresh and vibrant but will also stand the test of time?

Often seen as the colour of tranquillity and calm, it’s no wonder that blue is so popular when it comes to adding interest to the home.
Think vivid spring skies, deep unexplored waters or the pale, icy sparkle of aquamarine – instantly it’s easy to see the variety offered by beautiful blue.
It’s bang on trend too, with Dulux announcing its colour of the year for 2022 as Bright Skies, a blue that is brimming with hope and optimism.
Annie Sloan describes Louis Blue - the Chalk Paint™ palette equivalent to this - as a fresh, bright, life affirming pastel blue which we think looks amazing on so many projects, from dressers and side tables to garden furniture and more.
This soft pastel blue is a complex take on the classic baby blue. It’s perfect if you are looking to create a Scandi feel and works fantastically on furniture using the wet distress effect.
If you are in love with the current home décor trend for navy blue, Oxford Navy is the colour for you. One of its real plus points is that it teams well with most other colours making it incredibly versatile. So, if you are upcycling an item of furniture, opt for Oxford Navy in the knowledge that colour-wise it will fit wherever you place it in your home.
Another beautiful Annie Sloan blue is Aubusson which mixes in tones of green to create a sophisticated dark teal. It pairs beautifully with Paris Grey and Country Grey or if you want a bolder look try Barcelona Orange or Scandanavian Pink.
Possibly our favourite though is Napoleonic blue. This ultramarine shade makes us dream of diving into a sun-warmed swimming pool on a hot day. With a real warmth, it would look fantastic used to upcycle an old pine kitchen table or to bring a modern twist to an ornate bedstead.
